BOUNCE - The harder you fall the higher you bounce

This Sat I went to experience something new in Hong Kong, a free jumping revolution just opened 3 weeks ago (15 July 2015)! BOUNCE Inc is an urban playground housed with more than 80 interconnected trampolines. It is originated from the Kangaroo land and now you can Jump for Joy in the Pearl of the Orient too.

BOUNCE consists of 5 areas and each has unique characteristics.

 1. Free Jumping arena: Bounce’s main stage. Big open space consisting of interconnected trampolines, series of tumble tracks, and angled banked walls.
It is said that trampoline can burn up to 1000 calories in 1 hr.

2. The Big Bag: Jumping high and landing soft and safe. You can jump, twist, somersault on the air and land on the big soft bag. Recommendation from the staff is to do a synchronize jump with friends. You jump I jump.

3. The Dodgeball court: The friendly staff (the guy with red top) joined us and he's too good at dodging! Hahaha...

4. Slam Dunk: Now I can dunk! Call me Jenny Jordan!

5. The Wall/ Performance Trampoline: Bounce & run up the wall coming out of the high-rebound performance trampoline. A 4x7 meter monster platform provides extra height and bounce. You can advance your skills on the super tramp.

A tuckshop by Classified is outside the trampoline park for your convenience. Enjoy some salad, sandwich or snacks, or have a coffee break at the balcony to enjoy a bird-eye view of the stadium.

A pair of true grip socks is necessary during your whole bouncy journey. The brightly coloured grip socks provide better gripping which maximize safety and general hygiene. You can purchase them (20HKD) at the counter.

The courts are divided with safety nets and there's always a staff close by to keep you safe and making sure only 1 person per trampoline. Lockers are provided.

After an hour of jumping, running, falling and laughing, we were all exhausted and in a sweat. No doubt trampoline is one of the best and most effective exercises. Rebound exercise is a low-impact workout that improves muscle tones and coordination.

It is a good place for not only practising your aerial moves for sports such as snowboarding & parkour, I would also recommend BOUNCE for ice breaking & team building purpose.

One of the friend I bought with me was a friend that I have not seen for 10 years and there was no awkward moment, I am so glad we came to Bounce instead of some random cafe to chitchat.

One of the best friends-outing I ever had. Very fun and radical, courtesy of BounceIncHK.

Bounce

Dazzling Flower Fields

The past Easter holiday I went on a little road trip in China to visit the Thousand-Islet rape flower field (千島菜花風景區) located in Dongwang Village, Xinghua (興化) City of Taizhou (泰州)。 It is on the east of China's Jiangsu (江蘇) province and is around 3 hours drive from Shanghai.

The rape flowers scenic area has a unique view as the rape flower fields are cut into different pieces by rivers. Rivers, rape flower fields, and boats make the area known as "Thousand-Islet rape flower field".

You get the uncommon opportunity to get on a traditional boat and travel between the flower fields, to appreciate the beauty of this place. There's also a tower for you to climb and have a bird-eye-view of the whole place, how magnificent.

It is absolutely thrilling to be surrounded by the stunning flowers that were as tall as you (I guess that's where the English name came from, but let's just embrace the loveliness of the golden flowers for good).

The weather was not perfect on the day I visited the place, so it was a bit chilly. But I consider myself lucky as there was rain on the 2 previous days.

The official entrance fee is RMB100, but it's very easy to get discounted tickets costing RMB90 (either from online or parking lot staff).

Oh, do talk to the lady who sails the boat, she's the farmer and you can hear some fun facts about plants/farming and their lives from her.

If you are not driving, there's also direct tourist bus from Xinghua for free during the blossoming (festival) period for your convenience. Festival period: 3 April - 3 May 2015

On a side note, there was huge traffic jams during the Easter holiday (due to the ChingMing festival). Hence if you are traveling during the labour festival (1-3 May), prepare some food and entertainment in the car :)

P.S. Blossoming varies each year.

Cantonese 101

Ok wor -- Not bad!; It's actually pretty good!

Ok la -- Acceptable

Ok meh (mei) -- Are you sure it's really ok?

Ok ar -- Okay, no problem. (or in some cases, adding more weight to the sentence meaning)

2 kinds of Thank you.

1. Ng goi (唔該) -- Appreciation for a person's aid; your response when somebody did you a flavor
e.g. someone hold the door for you; hand you something; take something for you, answer your question

2. Dor jei (多謝) -- Gratitude
e.g. your response when somebody give you a gift

It's a higher level of appreciation than "ng goi", so you can also use this when someone did you a huge flavor.
