Gourmet Traveller --- Perth, Western Australia

I am going to summarized my Favorite Restaurants in Perth!
I will group them into 'Western Cuisine', 'Asian Cuisine' and 'Snacks and Drinks' categories.
Here we go!

Western Cuisine

Typika Artisan Roasters
This is my favorite place for Brunch!
Their deconstructed chocolate milk is so fun and delicious :D You can adjust the taste of the drink by adding chocolate chips or melted chocolate, to make your personal chocolate milk! Picture on the left shows the Golden French Toast (my favorite), Eggs Florentine and Eggs Benedict (Florentine - salmon; Benedict - Ham). I highly recommend the Golden French Toast because the combination of bacon, banana, french toast topped with caramel sauce is something unusual but goes incredibly well! The other popular dishes include huevos rancheros & smoked cod and leek baked eggs. They serve brunch whole day during weekends but expect a queue; lunch after 11am on weekdays.

I've also tried their lunch, food are delicate and beautiful but personally I don't think they are big enough to feed my appetite, and thus not worth the money. Nonetheless, I heard they regularly amend their lunch menu and recently they have had black sticky rice with coyo and mango =0= Picture below shows seared scallops on beetroot puree and miso beef on rice.
331 Stirling Highway, Claremont WA

Ciao Italia
Locals consider a Miss if you have not been to this super amazing restaurant during your stay in Perth.
I am a Spaghetti lover, tho my friends think I am a Spaghetti monster. (Fun fact: I can finish half a supermarket package in one go when I am hungry.) And I would say, their spaghetti is the best in town! The waiters are all Italian and you will have a feeling of being in Italy.
I will give you a must try list: Squid ink linguine with prawns and Tiramisu! (Tips: The portion is big but you can take away for free! Take-away the pasta if you can't finish and order dessert! heehee...)

Recently, they opened another branch called 'Chapters 88' in Broadway Fair in Crawley. Me & my friends tried several of their pasta dishes and we all agreed spaghetti marinara is the winner. Chapters 88 only opens for breakfast & lunch. Ciao Italia only opens for dinner. Both restuarants close on Mondays.

273 Mill Point Road, South Perth WA

Little Creatures Brewery
You don't necessarily need to be an alcoholic or beer lover to like little creatures. I mean of course they do good alcohols but they also serve good food! Their white wine mussels is yum yum! Their signature beverage is the Pale Ale.
40 Mews Road, Fremantle WA

Cicerello's Fish & Chips
Right next to Little Creatures is the Cicerello's. They are famous for their fish and chips in Fremantle in the Perth region. As Fremantle is located by the sea, their fish is guarantee fresh.

44 Mews Road, Fremantle WA

Girll'd Burgers
My favorite burger from Grill'd is Summer Sunset (Grilled lean beef, avocado, crispy trim bacon, free range egg, beetroot slices, salad, relish & herbed mayo). I quite like their chips too as they are freshly fried from thick potato slices.

Lots of branches, 2 examples:
Corner of Roberts & Rokeby Road, Subiaco WA
23 St Quentin Ave, Claremont WA

Asian Cuisine

Palsaik Namoo Korean Barbecue
Their Signature food set is the 8 colorful flavors of pork belly (8色五花腩). The set includes 8 different flavors of pork, a seafood soybean paste stew rice, assorted vegetables and salad! What a well-balanced wholesome meal! The 8 different flavors are: Wine, Original, Ginseng, Garlic, Herb, Curry, Miso paste and Red pepper miso paste. All the flavors are really distinct and tasty.

580 Hay Street, Perth WA

Tong 86
One of the best korean bbq restaurant in Perth city. If you simply want meat barbecue, this is the place. They serve marinated chicken, pork, beef and mushroom, as well as side dishes & lettuce for wrapping the meat (Eating like proper Koreans). The restaurant itself also set out like the ones you can found in Korean, simple but cozy.

86 Beaufort Street, Perth WA

Took Bae Kee 2
I really like their Korean style hotpot (a.k.a. steamboat). It's massive so it can feed 2 hungry people. They also do good seafood pancake and spicy squid. I've tried their dumplings fill with kimchi and minced pork, I would say just decent.
127 Barrack Street, Perth WA

Amazy (柳大爺)
They do Sichuan cuisine. I love spicy food and I reckon my tolerance for spicy food is not low. So when I say they serve very spicy food, I mean it. Once I brought my friend there (she loves spicy food but she can't really take them lol), she described the experience as 'pleasant torture'. She really likes the food and wanna go again. So if you love spicy food, or would like a challenge, go Amazy. Oh, you can choose the level of spiciness and the decorations inside are pretty and oriental. Picture below shows Dan-dan noodle (担担麵), boiled pork slices in garlic and spicy sauce (蒜泥白肉) & Sichuan chicken (干锅雞). A close up of the Sichuan Chicken is shown on the left.
393 Albany Highway, Victoria Park WA

Seizan Japanese Restaurant
I highly recommend their Teppanyaki, but not the normal dinner on the other side of the restaurant. They have 3 different sets of dinner for teppanyaki, including beef, chicken, prawns, lobster, salmon, vegetables etc. The chief is very well-trained, making the cooking process just like a performance. I will not spoil your surprises by describing what he can do here, but he's really good!
566 Hay Street, Perth WA

Nao Japanese
This is the best place for proper Japanese Ramen. There's always a big queue so go early. They serve different soup bases and you can choose between pork slices and pork ribs.
117 Murray Street, Perth WA  (Close on Saturdays)

Zensaki
This is a place for people who love sushi & sushi train! Sushi here taste proper and Japanese, what I mean is the flavors are not westernized. I also like the interior design of the restaurant, especially the dandelion like ceiling lights.
83 Barrack Street, Perth WA

Taka's Kitchen
If you opt for something cheaper and fast, Taka will be the place. It mainly serves Japanese bento and are in good price & portion. I would say this is a great place for backpackers. They also do party caterings.
150 - 152 Barrack Street, Perth WA

Mama Tran
This is a Vietnamese restaurant in the Perth city, and is well-known between white-collar workers due to its economic and fast-served food. My favorites are the rice noodle soup with rare beef & chicken rice paper rolls. They also do party caterings.
36-40 Milligan Street, Perth WA

Snacks & Drinks

Gelare
3 words: Ice-cream (Gelato), Waffles & Pancakes. I think that explains everything :)
160 Murray Street, Perth WA

Hi Tea & Utopia
They serve nice bubble tea and other drinks. Utopia in Northbridge even has Karaoke! (Very Asian hahaha) Picture below shows a mango snow with grapes jelly. It's my first slushy in Australia!
Hi Tea: 88 Broadway, Crawley WA
Utopia: 71 Barrack Street, Perth WA or 14/109 James Street, Northbridge WA

Till next time,
